FOXGEAR — Brand Positioning, Naming, Logo Design, Packaging Design, and Brand Guidelines
FOXGEAR stands for the highest standards of quality in the lubricants industry. Combining years of experience, advanced manufacturing technology, a focus on customers, and a deep understanding of the local market, FOXGEAR consistently delivers solutions of the highest quality and reliability.
Branding agency BRANDEXPERT Freedom Island was tasked with a comprehensive refresh of the visual identity and core brand messaging for the Russian division of FUCHS OIL, a global leader in premium lubricants.
Alongside brand naming and brand platform development, the rebranding project included a new visual identity and packaging design. The agency also designed the product catalog, brand guidelines, website, and other communications to express the renewed brand identity.
The name FOXGEAR maintains a connection with FUCHS OIL in both sound and meaning, reinforcing the new brand’s strong, confident image. FOX preserves a link to the parent company: Fuchs is both the founder’s surname and the German word for “fox.” It also reflects the brand’s ability to solve the most complex challenges.
Pairing FOX with GEAR, which signals the brand’s technical focus, strengthens the brand’s image in the local market while keeping the name recognizable to its established target audience.
The FOXGEAR logo embodies reliability and dynamism, ideas central to the brand’s character. The symbol builds on the rounded forms of the original FUCHS OIL logo and their associations with continuous movement, refining them into a simpler, more contemporary design that expresses the brand’s evolution.
The redesigned symbol combines the letters F and G in a ligature, creating a recognizable brand mark that is easy to reproduce across all brand applications.
A restrained, assured visual style across the product range highlights FOXGEAR’s core values: confidence, uncompromising quality, and professionalism.
The color palette and design choices convey the brand’s character to consumers while keeping the packaging design visually familiar to FUCHS OIL’s extensive existing customer base.
